The Putnam City School District will have new principals and assistant principals in place at several elementary and middle schools when school starts Monday.

The new principals are Megan Wilson, Western Oaks Middle School; Tracy Sowinski, Mayfield Middle School; Toye Mitchell, Hefner Middle School; Kimberly Harper, Kirkland Elementary School; and Shbrone Brookings, Hilldale Elementary School.

Brookings has longtime ties to the district, attending Putnam City schools himself and later becoming a teacher in the district. His mother is also a longtime teacher in the district. He comes to Hilldale Elementary from Mayfield Middle School, where he was an assistant principal.

Two principals have shifted to new schools. Kim McLaughlin, the new principal at Northridge Elementary School, comes to the school from the Pre-Kindergarten Center. Ashley Hoggatt is now the off-site Pre-Kindergarten Center principal.

There also are five new assistant principals: Ben Hodges, Capps Middle School; Michelle Sanders, Putnam City North High School; Isaac McCord, Mayfield Middle School; Shanda Brody, Windsor Hills Elementary; and Danyelle Speight, Hilldale Elementary.

“Being a principal or assistant principal is a demanding and complex job,” Putnam City Superintendent Fred Rhodes said. “We believe each one of the people stepping into these positions has the intelligence, experience and ability necessary to handle it, and we're excited to have them on our team and know they will serve our students and their families well.”
