“Little bit different. With the men’s and women’s combined, the Big 12 and corporate sponsors were pulled in a little bit more. ’07 we actually hosted inside the Cox Convention Center. That year the weather was so awesome, everyone hung out outside. In 2009, the Big 12 partnered with a group called Colonnade, they did a fanfest outside, brought that to the street. Since the championship now is split, we’re on our own. So All Sports put together the fanfest. This is an important event for us. We didn’t want the conference to think we didn’t care.”
Any remnants from 2007 and 2009?
“We are going to have the bracket banners (hanging on the side of the Cox Center). That was kind of the mystique in 2007. Those became an event in itself. The winning team, their fans would be coming out to watch the change in the bracket, their bands would be playing. We hope, pending weather, that excitement’s there.”
