After defeating Central Michigan in the first round of the NCAA women's tournament on Saturday, the Sooners will face UCLA at 6:15 p.m. Monday. That gave OU coach Sherri Coale's squad only a day to prepare for a team that beat them earlier in the season.

Coale talked about how her team has changed since that first game against the Bruins.

How has your team improved since facing UCLA earlier this season?

“We've grown exponentially since that game. Our execution is sharper and our spacing is better. I can go through a litany of things in which we have improved. The big thing, though, is the identity of our team. We have been through a lot since then. At that time, we were still trying to figure out who we were. Now, it's a completely different group led by Jo (McFarland) and her toughness and confidence. She is the player on the roster who most fits this matchup.”

How physical is the Pac-12 Conference?

“I don't really think I have any right to rank the Pac-12, I don't have enough exposure to them. UCLA is very athletic though, they are very physical. They've earned their spot and they've earned their seeding and they're living up to it.”

What does Sharane Campbell mean to this team?

“Sharane is our X factor. I don't think we've lost a game all year when Sharane's been good.”
