What’s one thing people don’t know about Robert Swift?

The training I do in the summer is MMA, cage fighting to stay in shape. The ground game for that is the same conditioning as basketball. It’s the same cardio, but I think it’s tougher than basketball. MMA is basically using all your muscles the entire time you’re in the cage.

Is it organized?

Yes. They’ve got a gym (in California). It’s like practice. You don’t walk in and go full bore. You work on your striking. You work on your kicks. You spar.

Why do you think MMA is so popular?

Why is boxing so popular? It’s an advanced form of boxing. It’s entertaining. It’s just human nature to watch fights. The more I got into it, the more I got into every fight. I like rolling around on the ground. I like to submission wrestle, which is weird for as long as my arms and legs are.

At 7 feet tall, who are you fighting against?

The heavyweight class. Anyone who is a heavyweight.
