On Sept. 12, the Thunder signed shooting guard Andy Rautins to its training camp roster.

The 6-foot-4, 190-pound Rautins was a second-round pick (No. 53 overall) by the New York Knicks in the 2010 NBA Draft out of Syracuse and played five games and 24 minutes with the Knicks as a rookie.

Rautins spent last season playing for Lucentum Alicante in Spain, where he averaged 7.3 points, 1.8 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 15.4 minutes. He is a former Canadian national team member.

Q: When were you first approached by the Thunder?

A: The process started in Spain. Before we played Real Madrid, they came to the game and we got to talking about how they wanted me to come to camp. It's been a long process since then, getting healthy with plantar fasciitis (first suffered in March). I came to the team with summer league (in Orlando). I got healthy there with (director of medical services) Donnie Strack and the guys. They've been super-helpful and I appreciate all they've done for me. Feeling great right now and can't wait to get this thing going. There's not many reasons to not want to be a part of this team.

There's always room for a shooter, right?

There are a lot of guards here (nine). If you look at the biggest difference in the Finals last year, you know the 3-ball was pretty big, percentage-wise as well. Every team can use a shooter. That's what I do. That's my craft. I feel like I could help out this team a great deal. Wherever coach needs me, I'll be available to play.
