Q&A: Thunder's Hollis Thompson: 'My strength is I can score'

Undrafted free-agent swingman eager to start his professional career in Oklahoma City.

Hollis Thompson's reputation precedes him.

Ask anyone familiar with the former Georgetown standout what the Thunder can expect from the 6-foot-8 swingman and their descriptions all will sound the same.

Great kid. Hard worker. Knockdown shooter.

Thompson isn't big on the superlatives. He's just eager to start his professional career.

But it was hard not to notice Thompson's infectious smile and inviting personality as he wrapped up a community event in which he helped distribute books to children at a local elementary school on Friday as part of the Rolling Thunder Book Bus. We'll soon learn how the undrafted free agent who signed with OKC in July can help the Thunder on the court. In the meantime, Thompson shared his thoughts on joining the Thunder and what he hopes to bring to the team in a Q&A with The Oklahoman.

Q: What do you know about the Thunder?

A: Just what I've seen on TV so far. It's a great team, a great program. I'm very happy to be here.

Did you know any of the players before signing with the team?

Yeah, I knew Russ (Westbrook) because we're from the same area. But that's about it. We're cool. We had a lot of mutual friends when I was in high school and in college.

Talk a little bit about your game and what you hope to bring to this team.
