Home builders group still plans

headquarters on Britton Road

Q: So, the Central Oklahoma Home Builders Association and The Oklahoman/NewsOK.com finally are going to be neighbors on Britton Road at Broadway Extension! In February, you told us you hoped the new headquarters would be started by spring. What happened?

A: Pulling a simple building permit is one thing. It’s usually a 30- to 45-day process when you’re building an already-developed site, which has previously gone through its own process with the city, the utility companies, and any other governing authority. We combined the development process with the building process, which adds complexity and time to the process. We’ve worked with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers on our pond, with the utility companies and owners of neighboring sites to reroute utilities, and our engineers to ensure everything is properly planned and in compliance. It’s taken several iterations, which adds time to the process.

Q: What kind of design can we expect, neighbor? How big will it be? Who designed it?

A: It will be a state of the art, dual-building "campus” design of close to 15,000 total square feet, which will host the organization’s offices, as well as its events ranging from board meetings and general membership gatherings, to continuing education and other seminars for our members.
