Q&A with Phil Kennedy: Laws to bring jobs, businesses, increase health care access

A: This was a session that brought dividends from years of hard work. Specifically speaking, civil justice reform brought Oklahomans from both private and public groups together to move our state forward. The State Chamber was instrumental in helping bring and keep this diverse coalition of business voices at the table throughout the arduous negotiation process. This measure will create jobs, draw new businesses to Oklahoma and increase health care accessibility in all areas of our state. At the same time, it will protect Oklahomans who have been wronged and provide them with a system that reduces frivolous lawsuits, which only slows our judicial system.

Q: When do you start as chairman of The State Chamber?

A: I officially take the gavel on June 18 at the annual meeting in my hometown, Lawton/Fort Sill, and this is very exciting. We will be honoring our military and recapping this year’s legislative session and discussing future challenges.
