Quick guide to Yukon at No. 4 Edmond Santa Fe

by Jacob Unruh Modified: September 12, 2013 at 1:40 pm •  Published: September 12, 2013

When: 7 p.m., Thursday

Where: Wantland Stadium, Edmond

Radio: KXNG-FM 97.3; WWLS-FM 98.1

Last week: Yukon 19, Mustang 16, OT; Midwest City 3, Edmond Santa Fe 0

Players to watch: Yukon — Shawn Anderson and Hunter Sconce, running backs. The Millers have been focusing on ball control this week. If the duo can have success moving the ball without turnovers, the hope is to keep the ball away from the powerful Santa Fe offense.

Edmond Santa Fe — Justice Hansen, QB. He was cleared to play early this week after missing last week’s game with a hamstring injury. The offense was really bad, failing to score or really generate much movement without the Oklahoma commitment. That’s expected to change Thursday. Look for Hansen to have a big night.

Storylines: Yukon — The defense struggled to get off the field last week, as colleague Scott Wright discussed earlier this week. But can the Millers avoid the costly turnovers? Last week they turned it over four times, but still won. Do that against Santa Fe and there could be trouble.

Edmond Santa Fe — Much like Yukon, the Wolves have to hold onto the football. Five turnovers last week plagued a short-handed offense. The offensive line also underperformed, but with Hansen back that is expected to change things.

The pick: Edmond Santa Fe 35, Yukon 24
