Almost a third of the attendance during the three-month season at Pelican Bay Aquatic Center was lost this summer because of rainy days.

The pool was closed 27 full or partial days because of inclement weather or fecal issues during the 2013 season.

The city’s swimming pool recorded an attendance of 53,500, said City Manager Larry Stevens.

Expenses totaled $462,041 while revenue collected was $393,151. For the 2012 season, expenses were $496,014 while revenue collected was $425,857.

City leaders anticipate that when the new Edmond Recreation and Aquatic Center at J.L. Mitch Park opens, attendance numbers at Pelican Bay could change.
