Oklahomans react on Barack Obama's election

People across the state from political figures and Thunder basketball players to regular folks offered their reactions to Barack Obama’s election on Tuesday:

Gov. Brad Henry attended Obama’s watch party and post-election celebration in Chicago on Tuesday night: "Having a front row seat at such an historic event was a wonderful experience that Kim and I will never forget. I’m sure it’s something we will tell our children and grandchildren about for many years to come.”

Melinda Brown, Norman: "I feel that our nation is once again a beacon of hope in the world and faith in our democracy has once again been restored. We have a leader that will try to bring us together as a people and as a nation.”

Thunder forward Desmond Mason: "It was unbelievable just watching the speech and seeing the scene in Chicago. I think you had two candidates that were very passionate about this country. But watching Barack win last night and then listening to his speech, I feel very optimistic.”

Thunder forward Kevin Durant: "I was excited. It was a lot of emotions going through my head. I drew a couple of tears because that’s unbelievable for me to live to see an African-American president. So change is happening.”

Jan Astani, Norman: "I told my two boys, ages 8 and 10, that they just witnessed history being made with Obama’s win. I felt the excitement in the air yesterday as my husband and I waited in line to vote, and I thought to myself, ’How blessed we are to live in America.’”

John Zogby, president of Zogby International, a political polling firm in OKC, as speaker for the Oklahoma Hospitals Association annual meeting: "It was a stunning victory.
