Reaction to the death of Wayman Tisdale:

God’s basketball team just received their star player.

— Greg Cole, Blair

Wayman was a great ambassador for the state of Oklahoma and a symbol of hope for thousands of youngsters.

— Lanny Sells, Tulsa

Oklahoma has lost a legend and a great example for our children. We will truly miss him and his smile. God has gained a great one in the heavenly blues band.

— Leon Rippee, Oklahoma City

Wayman Tisdale will be greatly missed by both the sports world and the Jazz music world. He will be remembered and honored as a legend in both arenas, and as a man of God with a great smile!

— John Crawford, Roseville, Calif.

I came to know of his through his music, not his athleticism. A loss for all of the worlds of which he was a part.

— Kerry Mitchell, Phoenix, Ariz.

What a class act! I followed Wayman during his playing time with the Suns... later met him on a plane going to LA. Was kind, gentle and a overall great person! Thoughts and prayers to his wife and family.

— Robert Rehak
