Southwest Showcase starts
The Southwest OKC Showcase of Homes starts this weekend and continues through May 13 with almost 40 new homes open free to the public from 1 to 7 p.m. daily. The event is a joint project of the Moore Home Builders Association and Southwest OKC Home Builders Association. The Moore association's project house, at 2800 SE 38 in Moore's Seiter Farms addition, was built by Marvin Haworth Homes. The Southwest OKC association's project house is at 17208 Serrano Drive in the Talavera neighborhood at SW 172 and S Santa Fe Avenue, built by Aaron Tatum Custom Homes. Meanwhile, the East Area Festival of Homes continues through Sunday, also with new homes open free to the public from 1 to 7 p.m. daily. The festival project house is by Gemini Homes, at 13439 Glen Eagles Pointe in Choctaw's Castle Gate addition, on the south side of E Reno Avenue between S Hiwassee Road and S Henney Road.
Tuttle administrator to speak
EDMOND — Peggy Geib, assistant superintendent of business and industry services for Francis Tuttle Technology Center, will be guest speaker at the Edmond Economic Development Authority event, “4o'clock 4cast,” sponsored by Old Republic Title at 4 p.m. May 31 at the authority offices, 825 E Second St. Geib will talk about the future Francis Tuttle Training and Business Development Center being built at Edmond's Cross Timbers Office Park. The networking event will feature drinks, hors d'oeuvres, and updates on Edmond projects. Attendees can enter to win a door prize drawing on the day of the event. Finance agency seeks nominees
The Oklahoma Housing Finance Agency is seeking nominations for its annual Apex Awards, which recognize the commitment and contributions of people and organizations to affordable housing. The 2012 awards will honor excellence in affordable housing from January to December 2011. Nominations will be accepted until May 25. The awards will be presented July 18 during the agency's board of trustees meeting in Oklahoma City. Categories include Elderly Housing, Rural Housing, Rental Housing, Home Ownership, Green Building, Special Needs Housing, Innovative Affordable Housing Initiative, Management of Affordable Housing, Community Development and Housing Revitalization. Also, the Friend of Affordable Housing Award honors excellence in leadership and service from local, state or national officials and leaders for their support of affordable housing.
