Army veteran receives home

Bank of America and the Military Warriors Support Foundation presented retired U.S. Army Spc. Joseph Dixon with a mortgage-free home this week in Broken Arrow. Dixon joined the Army in 2009 and served until 2011 as an infantryman. He was wounded in 2010 by a roadside bomb that hit his unit’s vehicle in Afghanistan. He is a recipient of a Purple Heart, Combat Infantryman Badge and Afghanistan Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, among other distinguished awards. Dixon, his wife, Ashley, and their three boys were living in Arkansas with family. The three-bedroom, two-bath home in Broken Arrow has been newly renovated with new flooring, windows, landscaping, indoor and exterior paint, and appliances. Bank of America recently surpassed its goal to donate 1,000 properties for military service member families and first responders who have housing needs. The bank will continue the program.
