KIEV, Ukraine (AP) — Serhiy Rebrov has been appointed new coach of Dynamo Kiev following the club's season-ending 3-1 victory Sunday over Zorya Luhansk.
Rebrov, 39, had been the acting head coach since Oleg Blokhin resigned on April 17.
Dynamo won its first Ukraine Cup victory in five years last Thursday, beating Shakhtar 2-1 to also mark its first win over the Donetsk club in three years. But Dynamo finished the Premier League season outside the top three for the first time in the league's history.
Rebrov played for Shakhtar before being transferred in 1992 to Dynamo, where he played alongside fellow team-great Andriy Shevchenko. A striker, Rebrov was the first player to score 100 goals in the domestic league and had stints in his later years with English clubs Tottenham and West Ham.
