A judge was asked Monday in an "emergency application” to appoint a temporary receiver to take over operation of Feed The Children.

An attorney for fired charity president Larry Jones made the request for a neutral receiver "who can restore the public reputation of the organization.”

Oklahoma County District Judge Patricia Parrish scheduled a hearing on the request for 3 p.m. Wednesday.

"It is clear the appointment of a receiver is urgently needed to prevent the destruction of FTC,” Jones’ attorney, Mark Hammons, told the judge in the application.

The attorney wrote the request was being made because of a critical CBS News story last week about the charity’s relief work in Haiti. The attorney wrote the charity engaged in false fundraising, which could result in the revocation of its tax-exempt status.
