Three reporters earn honors

The Tulsa Association of Black Journalists presented Oklahoman reporters with four first-place honors at the Oklahoma Salute to Excellence Awards in Journalism on Saturday in Tulsa.

→Columnist Bryan Painter won in the commentary category for his July 29, 2007, column, "Beauty is in the ...,” and also in the entertainment/criticism category for "Memories for former students,” a Jan. 27 column.

→Former staff writer Devona Walker won the feature category for "Once upon a plate,” a Feb. 2 story. She also won the news category with her story, "Clara Luper,” on Feb. 22.

→Oklahoman sports columnist Jenni Carlson took third-place honors in the sports category for her May 15 column, "An extraordinary pair.”
