Recruiting notebook: Oklahoma lands Texas teammates
Edmond Santa Fe's Justice Hansen gets an offer from OU at its junior day.
Lancaster, Texas, was very good to Oklahoma on Saturday.
The Sooners picked up a pair of commitments from the south Dallas suburb within a few hours.
First, senior cornerback Dakota Austin committed to the Sooners on Saturday morning, then 2014 outside linebacker/safety Vontre McQuinnie committed later in the day.
The commitments were first reported by ESPN.com.
Austin (5-foot-11, 167 pounds) visited Nevada and UNLV in the two weekends before his visit to Norman. He also had offers from Tulsa, Indiana, Texas Tech, Utah State and UTEP.
Austin is the Sooners' 22nd commitment for the 2013 class and the second cornerback, joining Tulsa East Central's Stanvon Taylor.
Another OU commitment was high on the offer. Tulsa Washington linebacker Dominique Alexander tweeted about Austin's decision shortly after it was reported.
“Say what you want on rankings and stuff. But Dakota Austin is Cold. That boy Lockdown. Good Pick Up,” Alexander posted.
Alexander and Austin were at the same OU camp over the summer.
Later in the day, McQuinnie (6-1, 198) became the second commitment of the 2014 class, joining Texas City wide receiver Armanti Foreman.
McQuinnie picked up the Sooners' offer, his first, earlier in the week and committed during the Sooners' junior day event Saturday.
SANTA FE'S HANSEN OFFERED BY OU
Edmond Santa Fe quarterback Justice Hansen picked up a scholarship offer from Oklahoma during his junior-day visit Saturday, he confirmed in a text message.
Hansen accounted for 3,852 total yards and 50 touchdowns during his junior season, which was his second as the Wolves' starting quarterback.
In those two seasons, Edmond Santa Fe's record is 20-4 with two playoff victories.
The 2012 Oklahoman All-State selection also holds offers from Arizona State, Missouri, Texas A&M and Arkansas, with strong interest from Oklahoma State as well.
His father, Dusty, played on OU's baseball team in the 1990s.
Hansen's OU offer was first reported by SoonerScoop.com, the Rivals network site that covers OU.
