Oklahoma picked up a pair of football commitments Monday — one somewhat expected, the other a bit unexpected.

The surprise came from North Royalton (Ohio) St. Edward tight end Sam Grant, who chose the Sooners over Michigan.

St. Edward athletic director Paul Michalko confirmed the commitment to on Monday morning.

Cornerback Zack Sanchez's commitment was less of a surprise after he visited Norman over the weekend despite being committed to Baylor.

Sanchez announced his decision on Twitter, first tweeting the time of his announcement, then posting, “Officially a Oklahoma Sooner !!! #BOOMERSOONER” just after 4:30 p.m.

At the same time, another Sooners target was announcing his decision to go elsewhere as Washington high school offensive lineman Zach Banner picked USC over Oklahoma and Washington.

Grant was the Sooners 20th commitment with Sanchez becoming No. 21.

They can sign beginning Wednesday.

Five players from the class — Kass Everett, Brannon Green, Taylor McNamara, Trey Metoyer and Chaz Nelson — are already on campus.

Grant (6-foot-6, 240 pounds) was committed to Boston College before reopening his recruitment in early December.

He visited Michigan and Arkansas in December before traveling to Norman in early January.

Grant was believed to be leaning toward Michigan, where high school teammate Kyle Kalis is committed.

Instead, he became the Sooners fourth commitment at tight end, joining Green, McNamara and Florida high schooler Laith Harlow.
