NORMAN — The Norman Best Buy, along with the city of Norman, will host a recycling event Saturday at the Norman Best Buy store, 400 26th Avenue NW.
People may bring used electronics, including computers and printers, to the store's north parking lot between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Large appliances such as washers, dryers and refrigerators will not be accepted. "Events like this help keep electronics out of dumps,” said Meaghan Story with Best Buy. "While only 1 percent of trash in dumps is electronics, electronics account for 70 percent of toxins in dumps.” Those who bring items for recycling will be given Best Buy savings coupons. The equipment will be donated to Recycle for Life, an Oklahoma City program that offers jobs disassembling computers and electronics to needy and homeless people in the community. For information, call 573-9613.
