Jeanie Richie couldn't help notice the guy decked out in Texas gear.

She also couldn't help herself when he said hello.

“Texas sucks,” she said.

Her crimson-and-cream conviction remains unchanged, but she still married the guy.

Just so happened that John Richie was playing in a charity golf tournament that day with some of Jeanie's co-workers. They thought it would be fun to give her number to him.

They've been married since 2000.

So far, so good.

But there was that year Jeanie got John a puppy for Christmas. The Labrador's registered name: Mack's Last Win. Now living in Wichita Falls, Texas, the Richies have seen their sons join the fun. Brady, 6, and Carter, 2, have done things innocently that have chapped John's hide.

“Like the kindergartner saying at a tug-o-war at school, ‘The girls went down like Texas,'” Jeanie said, “or the 2-year-old pointing at the TV during the news and saying, ‘Bob Stoops.'

“We have a lot of fun with OU-Texas.”
