He just stands out a little more than everyone else.

The Oklahoma meteorology professor is a Texas graduate and a Longhorn fan. His burnt orange tends to clash with the crimson-clad crowd.

“Some years, it's more tame that others,” Kloesel said, “but I think this year, this is a much more concerted effort to make it a big deal.”

He's hearing rumors of cheerleaders and Ruf/Neks.

But he's never hidden his Longhorn love even though he works on the Sooner campus. He decks his office with Texas paraphernalia, and his students crack jokes and pull pranks.

“Around the office and on the campus ... it's never ugly,” Kloesel said. “It's good-natured fun. Everybody's respectful of one another.”

He expects the same this week at the Bevo Barbeque even though he will be vastly outnumbered.

“About 497 to three,” he said, laughing.
