We asked readers for their stories of Red River Rivalry love. Here's what a few had to say:
Born and raised in Oklahoma and a strong Sooner fan, I married into a Longhorn family. My wife and I really don't battle that much about the rivalry, although ... it is amazing how many honey-dos actually show up on that Saturday.

I married a Longhorn — or as she likes to say, I married up. Every year, we dress our kids in OU and Texas gear for pics to show off to all our friends that we see at the fair. I always say ... when the kids are in the OU outfits, they look more confident and happy.
My wife and I are best friends 51 weeks out of the year, and one of us leaves the State Fair of Texas very happy.

Being a Texas fan in Oklahoma is interesting. On OU-Texas weekend, I'm having my big 50th birthday party, and many of the attendees are Oklahoma fans. If Texas loses, I will suffer the indignity of not only getting made fun of for being old but also for my team losing. I really need a win this year.

We have a mixed marriage since Tami is a Longhorn fan. We have actually attended the game in person and received many unprintable comments while walking around the fair holding hands, but this trouble pales in comparison to the way our children suffer. They don't know which team to root for, so they try to root for both.
I love my wife, but I've been a Sooner longer than I've been married. And every year, come the second Saturday in October, I hope the Sooners crush the Longhorns, even if it makes my beautiful bride cry.

Being a Sooner in the middle of Gator country often has its challenges. I'm very prideful of being an Okie and OU fan and it shows in all that I do. As I gear up for OU-Texas weekend, friends don't understand the depth of my need for OU to beat Texas and the homesickness it brings. I try to make them understand by equating it to Florida/Georgia or Florida/Florida State. But they still can't understand. I tell them there's nothing like Sooner Magic! As I exited a party store yesterday, I said hello to a fellow exiting his truck parked next to me. When he did'nt reply, I strugged it off as him being another rude Floridian. THEN I saw the Longhorn sticker on his back window and realized that he probably saw my OU sticker on my window. So my daughter and I heartedly yell, Boomer Sooner at him and we all started laughing. So as I rev up for the showdown, I'll continue to wave my crimson and cream and scream "Boomer" at the top of my lungs with the hopes of receiving a hardy "Sooner"! Let the Gators chomp on that. LOL
