•Story line: The RedHawks evened their five-game playoff series at one apiece thanks to a strong effort on the mound by starter Derek Lee and timely hitting.
•On the mound: Lee (1-5) worked 6 1/3 innings, allowing six hits and no earned runs. He struck out four. Lee was slated to be Sunday's starter but filled in for Tommy Hunter, who was injured Wednesday when hit by a ball during batting practice. Lee began the season pitching in the Mexican League before signing with the Texas Rangers in July. He had struggled in his previous outings, entering Thursday night's game with a 0-3 record and a 5.06 ERA. •Going...going...gone: Third baseman Travis Metcalf hit a solo homer in the third inning. Shortstop Casey Benjamin had two hits and two RBIs on a double in the second inning. •Hunter update: Starting pitcher Tommy Hunter has been cleared to play. RedHawks manager Bobby Jones said Hunter would be able to pitch in Sunday's "if necessary” game should it be played at the Brick. •Up next: Game 3 in the best-of-5 series is 7:05 tonight at AT&T Bricktown Ballpark. Mitch Atkins (8-1, 4.47 ERA) will start for Iowa. Brian Gordon (4-5, 4.57) is the scheduled starter for the RedHawks. From Staff ReportsToolbar sponsored by: David Stanley Ford
