RedHawks fall to Tacoma in 11

— Tacoma catcher Humberto Quintero played the role of hero Saturday night with a game-winning RBI single in the bottom of the 11th inning to give the Rainiers a 4-3 victory against the Oklahoma City RedHawks at Cheney Stadium.

Quintero also had a two-run home run to tie the game 3-3 in the seventh. He finished the game with three RBIs.

The RedHawks (42-35) led through five innings, scoring once in the second on Carlos Perez’s sacrifice fly and twice in the fifth on an RBI single by Austin Wates and a throwing error.

Oklahoma City pitcher Brett Oberholtzer (1-2, 4.88 ERA) allowed three runs in seven innings, but he gave up two home runs for the second straight start. He surrendered seven hits and struck out four in the no-decision.

Shortstop Gregorio Petit extended his hitting streak to 14 games with a 1-for-4 night. He singled to lead off the second inning.

The RedHawks and Rainiers (34-41) play Game 2 of their four-game series at 3:35 p.m. Sunday. Nick Tropeano (5-4, 2.09 ERA) is scheduled to start for Oklahoma City.
