— The Oklahoma City RedHawks erupted for six runs in the eighth and then held off a late charge from New Orleans to win 10-9 at Zephyr Field on Wednesday night.

The RedHawks' Marwin Gonzalez finished the game 3-for-5 with three doubles and three RBIs.

Oklahoma City got home runs from Jimmy Paredes and Landon Powell.

The RedHawks' Adalberto Flores (5-1) earned the win after tossing a scoreless seventh.

Dan Jennings (0-1) took the loss for New Orleans after giving up four earned runs in the eighth.

The teams continue their series at 7 p.m. Thursday.

Keuchel optioned to RedHawks

Left-hander Dallas Keuchel was optioned to the RedHawks after his start for the Houston Astros on Wednesday.

According to the Houston Chronicle, Keuchel, who played at Tulsa Kelley, must stay in the minor leagues at least 10 days. But since the All-Star break comes within those 10 days, even if he is called back to the Astros' rotation, he could do so without missing a start. That's not a guarantee as the Houston rotation will drop from six men to five after the break.

Keuchel's ERA is 2.45 after four starts, including allowing four runs in 5 2/3 innings against the Pirates on Wednesday.

Enerio Del Rosario is the likely candidate to come up from the RedHawks and become the eighth man in the bullpen, Astros manager Brad Mills told the Chronicle.
