With their major league offense struggling mightily, the Houston Astros have decided to call up Oklahoma City RedHawks outfielder George Springer late Tuesday night.
Springer started the season on a tear for the Triple-A RedHawks, hitting .353 with four doubles, three home runs, nine RBIs and a .459 on-base percentage in 13 games. The 24-year-old went 3-for-4 with a grand slam and four runs scored for the RedHawks Tuesday in an 11-9 win over the Colorado Springs Sky Sox.
Springer is expected to join the Astros (5-9) on game 2 of their homestand today against the Kansas City Royals (5-7).
