RedHawks Report: Iowa 2, RedHawks 1

•Story line: Oklahoma fell behind 2-1 in its best-of-5 playoff series with Iowa on Friday night at AT&T Bricktown Ballpark. The RedHawks struggled at the plate with just four hits, but they still had a chance to win in the ninth inning after Iowa allowed a run to score on an error.

•On the mound: Brian Gordon (4-6) started and pitched well, allowing nine hits and two earned runs over seven innings. He struck out six and walked one. Iowa starter Mitch Atkins was even better, scattering four hits over seven innings with seven strikeouts.

•At the plate: Chris Shelton led with two hits. Ben Harrison and Casey Benjamin also had a hit apiece, but the RedHawks failed to piece hits together to push runs across the plate.

•Award named for Murcer: The Most Valuable Player honor in the Bricktown Showdown Triple-A Championship on Sept. 16 will be named the Bobby Murcer MVP Award. Murcer played for the New York Yankees and was an Oklahoma City native. He died July 12 after a lengthy battle with cancer.

•Up next: Iowa (Mike Burns, 8-12, 4.67 ERA) at RedHawks (Michael Ballard, 3-3, 6.81 ERA), 7:05 tonight
