RedHawks win second game of series with Omaha

•Story line: Oklahoma won its second game of a series with Omaha on Sunday night at AT&T Bricktown Ballpark. The RedHawks scored one run in the first and added two on a double by shortstop Joaquin Arias in the second.

•On the mound: Brandon McCarthy (1-1) notched his second consecutive quality start, scattering three hits over seven innings. He struck out seven and had just one walk. McCarthy went six innings and allowed one hit with four strikeouts in his last start.

•Race for the pennant: With their win over Omaha and New Orleans' 8-2 loss to Iowa, the RedHawks lowered their magic number to seven games with 15 to play.

•Hunter optioned; Loe called up: The Rangers optioned Tommy Hunter on Saturday and recalled reliever Kameron Loe. It is the fourth time Loe has been called up by Texas this season. Hunter was called up in July and went 0-2 with a 16.36 ERA with the Rangers but was 2-2 with a 3.24 ERA with Oklahoma in five starts.

•Up next: Omaha (Brandon Duckworth, 4-11, 4.58 ERA) at RedHawks (Luis Mendoza, 2-2, 5.04 ERA), 12:05 p.m.
