Redskins owner asks others 'to respect' what name means to team

Daniel Snyder has written a letter to season ticket holders of the Washington pro football club he owns, offering an impassioned defense of the embattled team name that is increasingly under attack.



Ray Halbritter, representative of the Oneida Indian Nation, which is running an aggressive campaign against the name, said he is glad Snyder is listening and invited Snyder to appear at a meeting between the Oneidas and NFL officials in the coming weeks.
