The United States has been good to send money to other countries when they have troubles. Now we're talking about cutting essential programs, including the military. Before we go to the extreme of stripping our country of the protection of our military, it's time to rein in the billions we send to other countries in the name of foreign aid. This money doesn't always trickle down to the people who need it but stays in the pockets of those who get it.
In all the rhetoric about cutting the budget, no mention has been made about cutting foreign aid. Why not? The U.S. can't take care of everyone's problems. We have troubles of our own. If this country goes down the tubes, no other country will get handouts from us. We need to shore up our country, take care of our people first and then see about helping other countries.
