Edmond Pastor brings biblical characters to life in series
EDMOND — Bible characters will come alive when Dick Stenbakken brings his storytelling skills to Edmond for “Faces Around The Cross,” a series of dramatic presentations at 7 p.m. Friday through April 27 at the Edmond Seventh-day Adventist Church, 13812 Scott St.
In his first-person narratives, Bible characters in costume tell their stories. Each account has been painstakingly researched to bring to life the stories that make the Bible such a powerful book.
Stenbakken has served as a Wyoming pastor and then served 24 years in the Army Chaplains Service, including combat duty in Vietnam.
Radio station K-Love's charitable effort has heart and soles
It's hard to imagine what it's like to live without shoes, but for many orphans and vulnerable children around the world, it's a reality. And while new shoes are considered a luxury by some people, many children are forced to walk barefoot on rocky terrain or sewage-lined streets just to collect water for their families or play with their friends. Buckner International's Shoes for Orphan Souls ministry is partnering with K-LOVE Radio to encourage support for K-LOVE and provide new shoes to orphans and vulnerable children in the United States and around the world.
“We are thrilled to partner with K-LOVE in bringing awareness to Shoes for Orphan Souls during the month of April,” Scott Collins, vice president of Communications for Buckner International, said. “We share the same heart and mission for serving the most vulnerable, and we know that by working together, we can make an even bigger impact for God's kingdom.”
During the month of April, K-LOVE listeners who make a new pledge of support to K-LOVE with a $40 monthly gift also will help provide a new pair of shoes to a child in need through Shoes for Orphan Souls.
K-LOVE also will encourage listener involvement by hosting and participating in local shoe drives to help the organization meet its goal of distributing more than 170,000 pairs of new shoes to children in need this year.
Because of customs regulations and the desire for children to receive a new pair of shoes, Buckner only accepts new shoes and socks. The greatest need is for leather or canvas athletic shoes sizes Youth 1 to Adult 7.

“Gateway Worship: The First Ten Years” by Gateway Church (Integrity Music):
From the record label: Integrity Music celebrates Gateway Church's canon of modern hymns and worship anthems with a new 14-track collection, “Gateway Worship: The First Ten Years.” Led by Thomas Miller — along with Gateway Worship members Walker Beach, Sion Alford, David Moore, Zach Neese, Jason Tam and Dove Award-winning artist Kari Jobe — Gateway Church and its dynamic worship ministry have grown to be one of the most influential in the world.
“The new release is a compilation and reflection of what God has done at Gateway and a reminder that He's got incredible things in store for our future as we keep giving Him everything in worship,” said Miller, who is Gateway's associate senior pastor and leader of the worship ministry.
“We try to write songs that will speak to everyone and their walk in life, at the same time staying true to what God wants our congregation to sing; those things He wants our church to embrace from His word.”
