Church plans anniversary event
First Christian Church of Oklahoma City will celebrate its 124th anniversary at 10 a.m. Sunday on the church lawn, 3700 N Walker.
Campfire coffee will be served and the worship service in the Land Run tradition will begin at 10:30. The Rev. John Malget will be impersonating a Disciple minister who served in the Southwest a few years before the Land Run of April 1889.
A lunch of stew and biscuits will be served from a chuck wagon. A pie-making contest also will be held.
The public is welcome to join the celebration.

Prayer for rain event is set
A Call for Interfaith Days of Prayer for Rain and Water Stewardship will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the state Capitol.
Lt. Gov. Todd Lamb will join the Oklahoma Conservation Districts, Oklahoma Conference of Churches and Whole Creation Community in calling for faith-based action.
Interfaith leaders from across the state will join together on the second floor rotunda to call for statewide prayer dates on May 1, June 26 and Sept. 18 and encourage all Oklahomans to participate. For more information, contact Clay Pope at 699-2087 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Baptist plan men's conference
The 2013 Rewired State Men's Retreat will be Friday and April 27 at Falls Creek Baptist Conference Center near Davis.
“Fight for Biblical Manhood” is the theme of the event, hosted by the Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma.
Organizers said “Rewired” has something for boys 13 and older and men of all ages, with more than a dozen venues focusing on family, manhood, the workplace, finances, gaming, fathering, leadership, motorcycles, fishing, hunting, the ever-popular cowboy camp and a special emphasis this year on sexual purity.
The Friday main event will be from 7:30 to 9 p.m. and will specifically address purity.
Registration for “Rewired” is $70 ($60 for ages 13-18).
