Church plans gospel gathering

— A Church of Christ congregation will host its summer gospel meeting Sunday through Aug. 10 at 407 Jackson.

Guest speaker Curtis Carwile of El Reno will preach a series titled “The Kings of God's Children” and will focus on Saul, David, Solomon, Ahab, Christ and others.

The series is scheduled for 9:45 and 10:45 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Sunday and 7:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Church plans health fair

The sixth annual Strong & Healthy Oklahoma Free HealthFair will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 18 at New Hope Church, 11600 N Council.

Organizers said last year's event at the United Methodist Church drew more than 500 people from across the state for free health tests and information.

The event is free and reservations are not necessary.

Screenings will be offered for Glaucoma, visual acuity, high blood pressure, cholesterol, glucose, Body Mass Index, basic lung functioning, hearing and bone density. Free Immunizations will be offered for children.

Doctors will be available for free discussions of test results and a pharmacist will be available to review prescriptions.

A healthy lunch will be available for a nominal fee.

More than 40 health association and organizations will provide nutritional, health, aging, fitness and wellness information.

Four agencies will provide help and assistance for the blind and visually impaired. Information will be available on free CPR programs and children's fingerprints will be done by the Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office.
