Transitions

Regional pastor is retiring

The Rev. Thomas R. Jewell, regional pastor of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Oklahoma, recently announced his retirement.

He began his 20th year of regional church ministry on Aug. 1. Jewell said he will retire Dec. 31.

A special celebration for Jewell was held Nov. 17 at Southern Hills Christian Church in Edmond. The Rev. Sharon E. Watkins, general minister and president of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in the United States and Canada, was guest speaker at the worship service and program.

Church leaders said by Jan. 1 they hope to appoint a transitional minister, who will serve in the interim until another regional pastor is selected.
