Gospel singing event is planned

The first Saturday Gospel Sing event is set for 7 p.m. Saturday at Del City First Church of the Nazarene, 4701 SE 26.

Epiphany event to feature camel

St. Augustine of Canterbury Episcopal Church will celebrate Epiphany with special activities set for the church's 10:45 p.m. service on Sunday at 14700 N May.

A congregational processional featuring the Three Wise Men and a camel will be part of the service. Epiphany is the Christian celebration observing the manifestation of the divine nature of Jesus to the Gentiles, represented by the Magi, also known as the Three Kings or wise men. It is generally observed on Jan. 6.

Camel rides for adults and children will be offered after the service.

Lectures are scheduled

Several public lectures by Pablo Sender will be offered Tuesday and Wednesday at Unity Spiritual Life Center, 5603 NW 41.

Sender is an international speaker from the Theosophical Society in America. The lectures are hosted by the Oklahoma City Theosophical Society Lodge.

Sender will speak on “The Secret of Who We Really Are” from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday. A workshop entitled “Awakening to Higher Consciousness” will be from 10 a.m. to noon and 2 to 4 p.m. A lunch break will be from noon to 2 p.m.

Meditation classes are offered

Weekly classes in Beginning Zen Meditation and Buddhism will be offered from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Buddha Mind Minastery, 5916 S Anderson Road.

The classes, which will be offered every Friday, will introduce Zen Buddhism and the fundamental teachings of Buddha, as well as different methods of meditation. The class focuses on having a positive outlook in life, and gaining peace of mind.
