Lupus support group hosts concert

The lupus support group called 1LSG will present the 10th annual Gospel Fest at 6 p.m. Saturday at Wildewood Christian Church, 6900 N Kelley.

The event will include performances by gospel recording artists Shirley Murdock, Dorinda Clark-Cole and Chandra Currelley. Christian comedian “Shed C” Carrett also will perform.

Admission is $10. The event is a fundraiser for 1LSG. All proceeds will benefit education and support services for people affected by lupus.

Women’s group plans musical

A musical featuring the participants of a music workshop will be at 5 p.m. Saturday at Greater Mount Olive Baptist Church, 1020 NE 42.

The event is part of the Women of the East Zion Consolidated District Association’s 100-voice Women of Grace musical workshop. Singers from various churches in the metro also will showcase their talents during the musical.

A related service, the annual “Spring-N-Spirational Day” will be at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the church. The theme is “Women Maturing in Our Faith,” inspired by Hebrews 6:1. Guest speaker is Kimberly Blakely of Greater Mount Olive Baptist Church in Denison, Texas.

Concert fundraiser is planned

The Oklahoma United Gospel Music Association will present a benefit concert for the Christmas Connection at 7 p.m. Monday at Southern Hills Baptist Church, 8601 S Pennsylvania.

The event will feature the Williamsons, the Good News Quartet, the Lesters and Praise Inc. A love offering will be received.

Choir to perform concert

The Spelman College Glee Club will perform at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Fifth Street Baptist Church, 801 NE 5.

The choir’s performance is free. Spelman is a historically black college for women in Atlanta.
