Former youth minister to speak
Harvey Sparks III will be guest speaker at 11 a.m. Sunday at West Tenth Street Baptist Church, 6732 NW 10. Sparks is a Republican candidate for the congressional seat being vacated by James Lankford, R-Oklahoma City. Anniversary celebration planned
Serenity Outreach Community Church will host its 20th church anniversary celebration Friday through May 18 at 2717 N Missouri. “Testify Live,” a clean comedy event, will feature comedian Chinnita “Chocolate” Morris at 8 p.m. Friday. Advance tickets, available online at www.ticketstorm.com, are $25 for adults, $40 for VIP. Tickets for children ages 5 to 17 are available only at the door for $10. Adult tickets at the door are $30. The sixth annual Gospel of Grace is set for 2 p.m. May 17 at Grace Living Center, 1913 NE 50. Smoked brisket dinners will be for sale, with proceeds to benefit the center’s resident activity fund.
The event will include musical performances by the Fifth Street Baptist Church music and arts ministry, the E.J. Perry Ensemble, Kelvin “Mr. Guitar” Drake, Mount Olive Baptist Church, Velina Davenport, Mission Gospel Train soloist Keith Pickens, the Sensational Sons of Melody, Minister James Willis and Nu Praze and spoken word artist Sharika Browne. Symphony to perform at church
YUKON — The Oklahoma Baptist Symphony will perform at 6 p.m. May 18 at First Baptist Church of Yukon, 15 S Sixth St. The event is free. A love offering will be taken.
The Oklahoma Baptist Symphony, in its 20th season, is under the interim direction of Michael Raiber, Ph.D., associate professor of music education at the University of Oklahoma. Raiber directs the orchestra at First Baptist Church of Norman.
