Official will share faith story

A “God and Country” service to honor the military and veterans will be hosted at 10 a.m. Sunday at Metropolitan Baptist Church, 7201 W Britton.

Lt. Gov. Todd Lamb will share his faith story, while Robin Jones, director of the Office of Faith Based and Community Initiatives, and State Rep. Jason Nelson, R-Oklahoma City, also will take part in this special service.

United Methodists will meet

The Oklahoma United Methodist Conference's annual conference is set for Sunday through Wednesday May 27-30 at Boston Avenue United Methodist Church, 1301 S Boston.

Theme of the meeting is “Celebrate the Plan.”

Volunteers will participate in hands-on mission projects at nine sites throughout Tulsa during the gathering.

Guest teacher will be Bob Blackburn, Ph.D., executive director of the Oklahoma History Center, and guest preacher will be the Rev. Mouzon Biggs Jr., senior pastor of Boston Avenue United Methodist.

The annual conference historically has rotated annually between Tulsa and Oklahoma City. As the result of a conference vote last year, all annual conference gatherings will be held in Oklahoma City beginning in 2013.

Church plans open house

St. Eugene Catholic Church will host an open house from 2 to 4 p.m. June 3 in honor of the new church facility at 2400 W Hefner Road.

The congregation held a dedication service for the new 18,800-square-foot building in April.

The public is invited to attend.
