Singer to perform at city church

Christian recording artist Wayne Watson will perform and share his personal testimony Sunday at Crossings Community Church, 14600 N Portland.

The church's services are set for 8:30 a.m. in the chapel, 9:30 and 11 a.m. in the sanctuary and 9:30 and 10:40 in the church's atrium.

Watson has produced 23 No. 1 singles on Christian radio, including “Another Time, Another Place” with friend and fellow artist, Sandi Patty. His Grammy and Dove awards include Song of the Year and Male Vocalist of the Year.

Church to host pet adoptions

The Central Oklahoma Humane Society's Woofness on Wheels will be making an adoption stop from 8 a.m. to noon Sunday at United Methodist Church of the Servant, 14343 N MacArthur.

The adoption event is part of the organization's “Pawgressive” adoption tour on Saturday and Sunday.

The adoption fee of $25 includes spay/neuter, vaccinations and deworming. The road show will be easily visible by the sight of a furry hot pink dog van transporting adoptable animals. For more information, go to www.midnightwoofness.okhumane.org.

Buddhist abbot t visit metro area

Master Jian Deng, abbot of Chung Tai Chan Monastery in Taiwan, will preside at a special ceremony set for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Buddha Mind Monastery, 5916 S Anderson Road.

An inspirational Zen Buddhism lecture will be held after the ceremony at 7 p.m.

Discussions to focus on healing

Harold Dean Trulear, Ph.D., will be guest speaker at a series of discussions on healing communities.

Trulear is national director of Healing Communities, an organization in Philadelphia. Healing Communities balance justice with mercy and include the victim as well as the offender and are created to serve individuals and families affected by the criminal justice system and ex-offenders re-entering society.
