Mormon church plans conference
Leaders of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will hold their 182nd Semiannual General Conference on Saturday and Sunday. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is a worldwide Christian religion. Oklahoma has 43,905 church members, with 84 congregations. The conference, originating from church headquarters in Salt Lake City, is comprised of a series of two-hour meetings over two days featuring church leaders speaking on a variety of spiritual topics.General sessions, open to everyone, will be 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Mountain time Saturday, and 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Sunday. Live broadcasts are to be streamed to more than 7,400 church buildings in 102 countries. For a list of local meeting houses, go to www.lds.org/locations. Center will hold open house

Doctor will speak at meeting
EDMOND — The caregiver support group that meets monthly at Santa Fe Presbyterian Church will host a presentation by Dr. Robert Salinas from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at the church, 1603 N Santa Fe. The presentation will be entitled “Rx for Sanity: How to Cope and Survive Through A Hospital Admission.” Salinas is a geriatrician at the OU Physicians Family Medicine Center. OBU hosts convention leader
SHAWNEE — The Rev. Fred Luter Jr., president of the Southern Baptist Convention, will be guest speaker at chapel services at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Oklahoma Baptist University, 500 W University. Luter, senior pastor of Franklin Avenue Baptist Church in New Orleans, La., will speak on Psalm 119. He was elected SBC president in June, becoming the first black person to lead the denomination.
