Remote Patrol: OSU's blowout of Baylor leaves ABC crew searching for words

In pregame talk, Saturday night's Baylor-OSU showdown on ABC was supposed to be a chance for Baylor quarterback Bryce Petty to make a statement in the Heisman Trophy race and the Bears to move up to No. 3 in the BCS standings.

Instead, OSU's rout left ABC's topnotch broadcast crew of Brent Musburger, Kirk Herbstreit and reporter Heather Cox scrambling to find adjectives to describe the Cowboys' domination.

“Who is the Heisman Trophy candidate here?” Musburger asked to start the second half, noting the stellar play of OSU quarterback Clint Chelf, who connected on his first 12 throws in passing for 238 yards in the first half.

“He's just in a rhythm and they are doing a good job of protecting him,” said Herbstreit, a former Ohio State quarterback.

The OSU defense was just as dominant, and Herbstreit awarded his game ball to OSU defensive coordinator Glenn Spencer.

“The job he did in preparing this defense, how they have been multiple with their looks, how they have been aggressive, not afraid, on their pass coverage.”

During a shot of Spencer congratulating his players, Cox noted his motivational skills.

“Look at that enthusiasm. You can tell that this is a coach that has gotten them to believe and perform for the right reasons.”

Head coach Mike Gundy even got high marks for his dance skills during a video of him dancing in the locker room after the Texas victory.

“‘Dancing With the Stars' may come calling,” Musburger said. “Go get them coach. Come on down, baby.”

In his postgame interview with Cox, Gundy promised an encore performance in the locker room Saturday night, although he admitted it's been hard on his knees.

The Fox Sports Channel 1 broadcast team of Craig Bolerjack and former Oregon quarterback Joey Harrington complimented OU players for making two big plays in the fourth quarter to put the game away in Manhattan, Kan.
