More than 200 volunteers from Nike Inc. and Moore Public Schools, organizers from KaBOOM! and residents of the Moore community joined forces Friday to build a new playground at Plaza Towers Elementary School. The new playground’s design is based on drawings created by children who participated in a Design Day event in July. Local government officials and Gov. Mary Fallin were on hand for the dedication ceremony. Thunder star Kevin Durant also stopped by to lend a helping hand. In light of the May 2013 tornadoes in the Oklahoma City area, Nike committed $500,000 to KaBOOM! to help rebuild playgrounds in areas impacted by the storms. This project is the last of five playgrounds Nike and KaBOOM! led to help provide fun, physical activity and recreation for children and families during the rebuilding process.
