Last week, Los Angeles Clippers forward Blake Griffin withdrew from Team USA Basketball camp, saying he was doing so to devote his energy to preparing for the 2014-15 season.
ESPN's Ramona Shelburne is reporting that the former OU star also has a small fracture in his back.
From ESPN: "Griffin is expected to make a full recovery from the injury, which sources say was suffered during the playoffs. However, doctors advised him to sit out international competition this summer for precautionary reasons."
With Griffin and Kevin Love both witdrawing from Team USA, the frontcourt depth is thin, particularly at power forward. Atlanta Hawks PF Paul Millsap was added to the roster on Monday.
