There is familiarity between Yost and Gundy, with the OSU and Mizzou staffs among those who gathered at Northwestern last winter to exchange ideas on the spread offense. Matter reports that the two staffs also spent time together in Columbia sharing thoughts on that topic.

After leaving Mizzou, Yost said in a statement:

“There are a lot of factors that played into the process of coming to my decision. I feel like I’ve had a great run here and that it’s just the right time to turn it over to someone else. On one hand, it’s a really hard decision to make, but on the other hand, I feel good that it’s the right decision at the right time for me.”

In other news involving OSU from Matter’s blog post, Monken may be trying to hire former Cowboys player and assistant coach Josh Henson as his offensive coordinator at Southern Miss. Monken and Henson worked together at OSU under Les Miles and both followed Miles to LSU.
