Report: Lakers plan to court Kevin Ollie, Derek Fisher in coaching search Published: May 1, 2014

The Los Angeles Lakers plan a drawn-out and exhaustive search to replace coach Mike D'Antoni, but sources close to the process insist that they hope to "make a splash" with their eventual hire.

According to reports from ESPN's Marc Stein and Ramona Shelburne, the Lakers plan to reach out to UConn coach Kevin Ollie and Kentucky's John Calipari "to at least gauge their interest in the job."

The report also notes that the Lakers will also consider Derek Fisher as a coaching candidate if the soon-to-be-retired guard expresses interest in making the jump to coaching. Fisher, a five-time NBA champion with the Lakers, has also been linked to joining Phil Jackson in New York as part of the Knicks.
