Report: McAlester plant does not manufacture banned ammunition

Officials at the McAlester Army Ammunition Plant say the base does not manufacture the type of ammunition to blame in the deaths of several Marines in Nevada, according to The McAlester News-Capital.



The Marines have issued a suspension on the use of all 60 mm mortars and their associated tubes, according to ABCNews.com.

Kevin Jackson, public relations representative for McAAP said the local plant does have the capacity to store the type of 60 mm ammunition identified in the fatal training accident; however, he said they do not store “that particular lot,” the News-Capital reports.
