The NBA will give referees a little help on keeping their eyes on the clock and on the 3-point line, if a vote by the owners passes this week.

According to a report by ESPN.com’s Marc Stein, the league is voting on two instant replay proposals.

The first would allow instant replay to help officials determine whether a field goal was a 2-pointer or 3-pointer or if a foul was committed on a 2-point or 3-point attempt.

The second proposal would allow officials to use replay if the clock malfunctions at the end of a quarter or overtime period.

The two will be voted on separately, according to the ESPN.com report, and are due by 4 p.m. Oklahoma time on Friday. The changes would be in place by opening night on Oct. 28.
