OU scheduled to open 2017, 2022 seasons against UTEP

Oklahoma will open the 2017 and 2022 football seasons against UTEP in Norman, the school announced Thursday.

The games were initially reported by FBSchedules.com.

The Sooners began the 2012 season in El Paso, beating the Miners 24-7 in the start of a three-game contract between the schools. The return games will be played Sept. 2, 2017 and Sept. 3, 2022.

OU is scheduled to play at Ohio State on Sept. 16, 2017 and at Nebraska on Sept. 17, 2022.

The dates for all games are subject to change.

The Sooners are 4-0 all-time against UTEP, also beating the Miners at home in 2000 and 2002.

2014: Louisiana Tech, at Tulsa, Tennessee
2015: Akron, at Tennessee, Tulsa
2016: Louisiana-Monroe, Ohio State
2017: UTEP, at Ohio State
2018: UCLA, Army
2019: at UCLA
2020: at Army
2021: Nebraska
2022: UTEP, at Nebraska
