Last week, Denver Broncos receiver Wes Welker suffered his third concussion in a 10-month span in a preseason game against the Houston Texans.
D.J. Swearinger put the hit on Welker, prompting Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning to get in Swearinger's face with some choice words. Manning was docked with a 15-yard taunting penalty.
Well, Manning is reportedly getting a $8,200 fine from the NFL for those words, a fine he'll happily accept.
Peyton Manning notified by NFL he is fined $8,200 for taunting of DJ Swearinger. No appeal. Peyton: "I accept it. Money well spent."— Chris Mortensen (@mortreport) August 28, 2014
Manning has said he couldn't repeat what he said to Swearinger during their confrontation. Swearinger told reporters Manning said “F me.”
"I'm obviously concerned about Wes and never like seeing him come out of the game with a potential blow to the head," Manning told The Denver Post. "He had one of those last year that kept him out a while. Fifteen yards with five seconds left in the half — it can't hurt you that much, right?"
